(January 9, 2019) – HomeServices of America, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, today announced that it has acquired Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty, one of Florida’s leading residential real estate companies, and its affiliate title company–Florida Title and Guarantee Agency. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty serves 21 counties throughout Florida with over 40 locations and approximately 1,750 Sales Professionals. The full-service brokerage offers residential and commercial services as well as title and settlement services, seasonal rentals, property management, REO & Foreclosures, corporate relocations, nationwide referral assistance, home service plans, and complimentary concierge moving services for customers.
Rei L. Mesa, president and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty, with more than 30 years of experience, is widely recognized for his community involvement and leadership and is active in the real estate industry on both the state and national levels.
Mesa will continue to lead Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty’s strategic planning and growth initiatives and together with his existing executive and leadership team, will manage the company’s day-to-day operations.

The acquisition further expands HomeServices’ presence in Florida, which includes Miami-based EWM Realty International and Jacksonville-based Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty, which HomeServices acquired in 2003 and 2016, respectively. With this transaction, HomeServices has nearly 45,000 real estate professionals operating in nearly 925 offices across 30 states. In 2018, the company’s associates facilitated more than 350,000 transactions (on a pro-forma acquisition basis).
